CAMP CRAME, QUEZON CITY—Intensified manhunt operations by the Highway Patrol Group have once again proved effective as two Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) were arrested within the last 48 hours.

The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU) 11 under the supervision of its Regional Chief, Police Colonel BOBBY ABAO, and with the assistance of Ecoland Police Station 15 of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) apprehended Norshaid Esmael Magerna, 35 years old, resident of Brgy. Malasila, Makilala, North Cotabato, in the afternoon of July 8, 2021. Tagged by the RHPU 11 as its Top 5 MWP, Magerna was captured through a Warrant of Arrest (WOA) for Carnapping issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 of the 11th Judicial Region in Davao City dated March 2021. The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Sandawa Sub-Station, DCPO.

Then earlier today at about 8:00 AM in Brgy. San Francisco, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, RHPU 2 SOT operatives under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel CARLITO NARAG JR, Acting Regional Chief, RHPU 2, together with personnel of Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT), Ilocos Sur PHPT, Ilocos Norte PHPT, Masingal (Ilocos Sur) Police Station, and 1st Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, apprehended Dominador Pillera Licay Jr., 45 years old, resident of Brgy. Banganan, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya, and listed as RHPU 2’s Top 7 MWP. Licay Jr.’s arrest was with a WOA for Carnapping dated September 2016 and issued by the RTC Branch 30 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The suspect is under temporary custody of RHPU 2 awaiting his presentation to the WOA’s court of origin.

HPG Director Police Brigadier General ALEXANDER CAMILON TAGUM lauded the regional units involved and assured the public that there will be no let up to the HPG’s intensified anti-criminality operations against carnappers and their cohorts. “As always, we continue to seek the support and assistance of the community and volunteer force multipliers so we can quickly bring these crooks to justice,” he added.
